What GEO is, and why your company should show up when people ask an AI

For twenty years, "getting found" meant showing up on Google. That still matters, but it is no longer the only door: more and more people ask an AI directly — ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini — "what AI management software should I use?" and act on that answer.

GEO, Generative Engine Optimization, is the work of making those engines understand and cite you. It does not replace SEO: it extends it. It shares a lot (clear content, technical structure) but rewards different things.

What actually moves GEO:

First, factual, extractable content: direct answers, clear definitions, honest comparisons. An LLM cites what it can summarize and verify, not the slogan.

Second, structure a machine understands: structured data (schema.org), a page per language that can be read without running JavaScript, an llms.txt file that summarizes what you are.

Third, consistent presence off your own site: the same description of your company across directories, articles and communities. Engines triangulate.

Honesty is not a moral footnote: it is tactics. An engine that detects inflated claims or fabricated social proof stops trusting the source. What gets cited is what holds up.

At Remi we build this from the inside: the landing is bilingual and machine-readable, with structured data, an llms.txt and content that genuinely answers. If you are building your presence, start with the same: say what you do, precisely, in a format an AI can cite without embellishing.
